  • Mavic Crossmax 29er – any good?

I'm thinking of getting one as a rear wheel. Anyone got any experience of these?

Also, they are UST so does that mean I have to run a UST specific tyre? I currently run tubes so assuming its not a problem?

    Cheers.

Wiggle were doing good deals on these but i rarely see anyone riding with them. (never in fact!)

I seem to recall reading some reviews a while back that said they were a bit flexy but i could be wrong.

I have a pair and quite like them. Quite light, OK* on tubeless, seem stiff enough though definitely not burly. If you can get them at a good price and don't mind non-standard spokes then there are worse choices.

*though they are stated UST rims there are very few genuine UST 29er tyres out there – 2 I think. However other tubeless tyres like Bonty TLR and Geax TNT work well. Using non-tubless approved tyres is hit and miss, though I do have some Racing Ralphs on mine at the moment.
