I’ve ditched lovefilm because they appear to struggle to serve at busy period. I’m sick of films pausing multiple times during delivery. (And I’ve checked to confirm the internet is fine during these periods which it is)

So I’ve just signed up to Netflix. I don’t know how much better their delivery is but the film and series choice is MUCH better. Some really good stuff on there. Lets hope they can deliver.

    Anyone else had similar experiences?

I found Netflix awful and had no real problems with Lovefilm, going to scrap it though as Sky On Demand should meet my needs.

    Delivery-wise or choice?
There’s plenty of rom-coms on there for you.

I think they both get a bit boring after a while if you’re after watching films. They both have their exclusives, but after a few months, you’ve pretty much exhausted most of the films you’d want to watch. The TV series make it worth it. Just finished Breaking Bad, and just started Dexter on Netflix (I used to have lovefilm).

After I’ve done a couple more series, I’ll cancel it and leave it for 6 months or so and go back to one or the other, once they’ve built up a stock of new films.

I wouldn’t pay any more that £6 a month for either of them, though.

Aye. Netflix seems to offer far more series that I want to watch.

I was going to start a thread asking what people make of Netflix and Lovefilm Instant, so I will watch this topic with interest.

Appologies for the hijack, but how well does streaming work with your broadband? I did a speed check earlier and it came out at just over 6Mb/s – which according to something I read should just be good enough for HD. Has anyone got ant experience with this?

I prefer Lovefilm but that’s cos I rent games and Netflix doesn’t offer that. Streaming-wise, not had any issues.

The broadband speed doesn’t need to be very big to stream in HD. 6 Mb, should be fine. The good thing about both of them, is that you get a free trial, and you can cancel any time, so you may as well give them a try.

..also, one reason I left Lovefilm, was their lack of support for (non-Kindle Fire) Android devices.

Netflix ‘delivery’ was faultless but this is isp dependent is it not? Library was dire imo.

    Not tried lovefilm instant.

Netflix service is mega reliable IME and the quality is great (via AppleTV). Selection on the UK one isn’t amazing but if you use unblock us to get the Canadian one you get loads more big/recent films. Very happy with it.

I tried them both and was really unimpressed with them. Love film was better due to the fact that you could rent a couple of blu-rays on the plan I was on.
The new sky service looks a better bet for up to date films.
