Any advice for removing a chunky lock that is securing all my bikes in the garage would be gratefully received. I lost my keys yesterday and I want to go riding.

Do I try breaking the barrel with a hammer? Drilling into the barrel? Or do I need to find a friend with an angle grinder?

    It’s similar to this…

Google may be your friend here. It doesn’t look a particularly expensive lock.

hmmm… a thread asking how to break into a bike lock… seems somewhat counter intuitive to the ethos of the forum…

Cool, so the bike thiefs won’t be able to read this thread then.

Can’t think of a lock I’ve ever bought which didn’t come with at least two keys . . . you did put the spare key somewhere safe, didn’t you ❓

think might have sent the “specialist” clothing stuff to the drycleaners without emptying pockets – easy mistake but shush!

Thanks all. I can assure you that I am genuine. The spare key went missing during a house move last year along with lots of other bits and bobs that will probably reappear next time we move.

I borrowed an angle grinder from a pal and it was off in no time (quite alarming really). I’ll be replacing it with a better lock and keeping the spare key somewhere a bit safer.

Looks like I missed the small window of fine weather this morning though. Very wet and windy here now.
