    Not to take away from the tradtdgedy of lose of life , but watching the video footage and on the BBC why are all the emergency vehicles Landrovers Bmw Audi, i thought the country was skint. Just a thought

    Aside from the purchase discount, the whole life cost is far below ‘lesser’ badges as the vehicles are more reliable, more fuel efficient at higher speeds and have a stronger resale value. Saves the taxpayer a wad of cash and means the cars spend more time on the road than in the workshop. It’s a win win but does provoke a bit of public / journalistic interest.

    Although I thought there were more reliable brands than Beamers – Japanese? But I guess they might not offer the same performance, chassis requirements, parts availability and end of service value. Etc

    Non issue really – I take it people would quite like a first responder to get to them more quickly/reliably.

    It’s the same with corporate lease cars..
    The in-srvice costs & resale value offset the initial purchase price.
