    Anyone know of any decent routes through South Tirol Alps / Dolomites? On or preferably off road.

    How about the Transalp route Jim?

    I’m pretty sure there will be gpx files of it somewhere.

    2009 route was Mittenwald (Germany) – Reith im Alpbachtal – Mayrhofen – Brixen – St. Christina – Sarnthein – Kaltern – Andalo – Riva del Garda.

    Stunning scenery all the way.

    The 2010 route is here and if you click on the “bike gps map” link after each stage it’s give you a very detailed map. It may be possible to download the gpx files but it’s all in foreegn so I’m not sure.

    Much better to do another T Alp route (not the race route) as the race is bound to avoid the best tracks due to 800+ nutter Germans needing to get over it and the need to overnight in big towns. Try the Joe-Route (Obertsdorf to Riva del Garda) and do the Madrichjoch and Tarcher Joch variations. Awesome.

    Have to say, ChrisE, that looks ace and I’d rather do it leisurely than as a race.

    Anyone else for next year?

    this book has all the information about routes across the German/Austrian/Italian Alps – written by Transalp guy Uli Stanciu. Thing is, it’s all in German, but the maps and software are pretty self explanatory, and routes are downloadable from the web site.

    Loads of routes on here too;

    will be easy to choose a route, get the maps (Stanfords.co.uk) then ask on here for specific bits of your route that you might need guidance on though it’s easy to follow the maps,

    Hello.

    Checkout “The Stoneman”—-> http://www.stoneman.it/

    You may need to translate with google.

    A bit of a write up can be found here on our teams website:
