My Swampting 2.3 is worn out and I’m keeping the front on- just need something reasonably grippy- maybe NOT as grippy as a Swampting on the rear though. Light, pumped, narrowish? With good rolling resitance (possible with a winter tyre?!)..

    Over to you..

My latest brand of chice is Bontrager

XR-Mud, if you can cope with max width of 2.0″
Or XR4 for bigger size/less grip in the gloop.

My fear with Beaver is it looks like a beefier Larsen on the pics??!

edit- bit more info – does what you are after. The 2.0 is slimmer than you’d expect and digs in reasonably whilst not being too draggy. A bit drifty, but good on the rear. Sort of an all round winter compromise, but not in a bad way.

2nd the Bontrager. I bought one last year when I split a tyre on a weekend away and it was all the LBS had. At the time I was moaning and assuming I would have to buy another tyre when I got home but I liked it so much I bought a front to match.

If you have the Swamp Thing on the front why not a Medusa on the rear?

Beaver or a Medusa, both are a bit quicker rolling than a Mud X. Though Mud X is probably grippier outright in the mud.

Another vote for the Bonty XR4. Excellent tyre.

Only if your technique is rubbish 😉 I used one a couple of winters ago and it was grand. Where the front goes the rear will follow. Tempted to get one now if only I didn’t need a cassette and chainring.
