I just looked at that strava link. His average riding time per week is over 36 hours. That is literally a full time job.

My money is on Lee getting the record… if anyone followed his trans europe record… they will know how tough and motivated he is

It must be an even harder record to beat given the A6 has so many more junctions and traffic lights than when it was originally set.

    Hi

I am lucky enough to know Lee personally. He has just got back from his 5th world record this year ‘How many countries you can cycle through in 24 hours’ He managed 7 and got the world record

You can follow Lee on Facebook where he puts detail and video of all his rides and on his website where there is a live GPS feed so you can see where he is riding.

why did he use a fat bike for last weeks endless loops of the FOD? surely a short travel xc bike with skinny tyres and clips ons would have been better, a la the south downs double double guy?

thats actually his job though, rather than being a mobile bike mechanic (if he still does it)

He already had a fat bike and knew he could do it. He pumped the tyres up to about 30 psi so they role really well.

He starts his LEJOGLE on Monday. He was was build a new bike for it last night.

Not quite, I just googled the current UK 24 record to see how close he was, as I had no idea what the record was – 541.17 MILES!

Lee is in Edinburgh now so, I’m guessing, he will be at JOG Today.

Don’t know how that relates to Ben Rocketts record, but it’s some going. Lee has been having stomach problems as well according to his Facebook page.

Just ticked over 600 miles and seems to be going pretty well on course.

I saw Lee this morning and escort vehicle I think, heading North to Edinburgh on the Peebles road. He won’t be at JOG yet unless helicopters are allowed !

Gave him a cheery beep on the horn.

Set by Wilko on a lumpy Sussex course in 2011. Andy also has the Lejog record amongst others – clicky

Aside from being barking mad, all these peeps show incredible strength both physically and mentally. 8)

I’m heading up the A9 at the moment (well, I’ve stopped for a break). I’ll look out for him somewhere around Bankfoot 🙂

Anyone know what’s going on this morning? The tracker says paused 1 hr 40 something minutes ago somewhere between Inverness and Wick, plus Lee’s Facebook page says he was throwing up last night.

Possibly considering whether or not to continue? His illness has put him well behind record pace so maybe time to think about recovery and a repeat attempt

Lee has confirmed on his Facebook page that he has had to stop.

His stomach issue was just not improving and he was finding it too much to even pedal let alone reach a record beating pace. He hadn’t eaten proper since Monday so I’m giving him big respect for making it that far on an empty stomach.

That’s a shame, but it was doomed from the start. No way can you throw up all day and continue to maintain a record breaking pace for the next few days. Would’ve had a good tailwind on the way up too.
