it can be hard work, and actually pretty dangerous too, if it's very windy up there. which can be quite often for 3 seasons of the year!
personally, i like the place. a lot. but i can definitely see how people wouldn't get on with it; it's not like any other 'trail centre' i've ever been to.

It's not the best place when it's howling down tbh.
I quite like the place.Posted 4 months ago # -
I liked it. Hard work as you have to climb a lot but the berms are a lot of fun. Pump track is ace.
But I only went when the weather was nice. I can't imagine the link to Cragg being too much fun in poor weatherPosted 4 months ago # -
I went there not long after it opened (I only live down the road) and it was a bit short but ok.
Moved away and as it's not on the way to/from anywhere I go havn't been for ages.
Went on Wed last week and it was awful!! So windy it was dangerous, cleared a table top diagonally which was not in the plan, struggled to ride anything on the top so went home (glad it wasn't far away)
I'll go back on a calm day - not saying I didn't like it but when I went conditions made it fairly unridable.
If I go back a couple more times and the winds up (can be quite deceptive from the valley) I'll probably give up

the majority of the quarry trails are very exposed, and the Bacup end of the Rossendale Valley is infamous as a poor weather microclimate
as for wind, Cragg Quarry makes Lee look tame

Went there several times last summer, but wouldn't touch it in rough weather, will be back thou when the weather gets nicer

I think its main problem is that trail centres are generally good places to ride in crap weather and Lee quarry really isn't.
