We went last year, was suprised how un-busy it actually was
We watched from the corner of Jardin Des Tuileries (on the terrace Jue de Paume) so saw the riders come off Rue de Rivoli around Place du Concorde and off up Champs then back down Champs
We dragged some chairs over from the gardens and sat in the shade of the trees’ elevated above the Place du concorde
Was a great atmosphere and we had the food stalls and (importantly) the bar in the funfair just behind us
The bar was cheapest we found in Paris so everyone was happy 🙂
There was also a big TV screen there so we could watch the whole lap
We stayed in a little hotel off Place Italia, it was far enough out to be quiet, reasonably cheap, a 24hr car park round the corner (pre-booked was 7euros per day) and straight in on the Metro, rooms where a decent size for Paris
I can’t remember it’s name though
We drove over but combined it with 5 days at Disneyland Paris
