Weve just had a new smart tv installed at work, and IT have said we cant use the smart tv function as were behind a http proxy, and theres no configurable settings on the samsung.

What im looking for is the ability to piggy back the wifi connection of one of the work laptops thats already set up to use the proxy.

    Any ideas?

You need a squid box that has the work http proxy setup as an upstream proxy.

You can then enable a transparent redirect using IP Tables to direct the traffic to the upstream proxy without needing actual proxy settings.

i can do it on my mac if i’ve got a wired connection to the network and then set it up to act as a wifi router.

    ICS.

You’ll probably need a crossover cable between the two.

Have a look at this, I use the virtual router plus and it works fine for me.

If tv has a wireless network capability – tether off a mobile of someone with a phone on 3. Did this for 2 months in a flat.
