Anyone else seen this? Don’t remember it from previous lambing seasons. Is it to keep them warm?

Yes, LambJacs or some such name, keeps them dry and warm. More trouble than they’re worth IME (put them on one lamb and the ewe bolted in horror).

Up in Caithness this year they appear to be clear.

Also foxes can’t be bothered with the wrapped lambs. Haven’t seen any around our way, but it has been pretty dry recently.

Foxes are terrible snobs and will not consider packaged meat!

There’s a joke to be made here about rustling.

If they’ve been exposed to foot and mouth they might be carriers.

Mine wears a monogrammed blanket. Replaced a red dog jacket that it rapidly outgrew!

I’m Contract shepherd and I don’t bother with them, bit of tar on the back of the necks keeps most things away. But they are mainly to keep them dry/warm

I use them on my lambs as they’re tiny Shetlands and cold and foxes are the biggest threat. They do look ridiculous though, as the jackets are sized for bigger lambs really.
