[#3884792]

right... i'm going to get my left arm covered in dinosaur tattoos.

yes, yes i know i'm awesome.

now i need to decide which dinosaurs, probably about 5 of them, want them to be entangled in some kinda battle, one biting the tale of another for example as they wrap around my arm.

any good recommendations for dinosaurs with interesting skeletons? they're going to be fossils in layers of rock so i want to keep it reasonably accurate... well not that accurate considering they've gotta fit on my arm and my arm isnt the size of a dinosaur... but the fossils themselves will be as accurate as the current fossil record can instruct.

the other question is, jurassic park style velocityraptor or chicken sized one to be more accurate?

Dino's suck they cant even survive a meteorite impact....
its all about the microfossils magnified on a SEM scale 😉

edit: you could go through the evolution rather than getting the generic 5 most known and frankly boring ones.
start of with a fairly primitive one and progress to the more evolved?
be wary of what colours are used though as its all purely speculation at this time.

I'm confused, you're convinced you want permanently inking up with a "statement animal" but can't decide what that statement will be, or you're looking for something of beauty but can't decide what's beautiful? Are you sure you should be having a permanent body modification? 😀

Archaeopteryx, the dinosaur-bird transition:

Pleisiosaurus:

You could sneak some trilobites and them there curly wurly spiral thingies (amonites?) to fill the gaps.

Well, your ‘iconic’ dinosaurs are:

Tyrannosaurus Rex
Triceratops
Stegosaur
Brontosaurus
Pterodactyl

Obviously you’d have to have some artistic license in terms of scale, and also that they didn’t all live at the same time, so would be therefore unlikely to get into fisticuffs.

That's definately more of a "well helloooo there" followed by a tyranasaur floppy wrist.

You could try and go for a sort evolutionary cycle, from fish to triassic dinosaur to jurassic dinosaur to cretaceous dinosaur to modern dinosaur (eg crocodile) the crocodile could then be eating the fish. You can then choose the most badass of the dinosaurs from each of the three periods 🙂

bit of a a geeky pedantic point here

A modern dinosaur would be a blue tit rather than a crocodile...crocodilians aren't saurids after all whilst all modern birds are descended from maniraptorans, which were saurids

although for your example an Osprey would be better

No. As he would have done a better job.

...unlike a Pterodactyl, though, he is no good on the wings.

The Ministry of Made up Facts says that 92% of men are powerless against the appeal of dinosaurs, regardless of age.

My nephew had those Clarks trainers with the dinosaur fossils on the soles, and I swear, if they'd done them in a size 13, Mr Toast would have got a set for himself.

my right leg has a trilobite and ammonite on it, its a tale of evolution in the oceans.

you could go through the evolution rather than getting the generic 5 most known and frankly boring ones.
start of with a fairly primitive one and progress to the more evolved?
be wary of what colours are used though as its all purely speculation at this time.

that's the plan, generic... although iconic, isnt what i'm after, its the evolution that interests me. no worries about colour as i'm keeping my left arm black and grey, its going to be all drawn up as fossils in layers of rock.

I'm confused, you're convinced you want permanently inking up with a "statement animal" but can't decide what that statement will be, or you're looking for something of beauty but can't decide what's beautiful? Are you sure you should be having a permanent body modification?

its not a statement animal, well not to me anyway, and it'll probably only be beautiful to me... not fussed how other people see it 🙂

Herman and Mangoridebike are pretty much on the money, although i dont want modern animals on there... so will stick to dinasaurs but at different evolutionary stages 😀

emsz... i LOVE dinosaurs, if there's one thing in the world that makes me feel excited and brings back floods of happy childhood memories its dinosaurs.

You're going to need a street-wise hippity-hop slogan underneath it all to prove your badassery. I suggest:

Guns don't kill people, Raptors do.

Yeah but you need to really really careful, and choose your tattoo carefully. Have you got an artist in mind? have you got a design? It has the chance of going horribly wrong...

worry not emsz 🙂 my tattooist has been doing custom stuff on me for the past 6 years, probably spent a total of 85+ hours tattooing me. trust him completely and love his drawing style.

the reason i set up this thread is because i was hoping people might suggest some dinos i hadn't considered to possibly include

Phil I would love to see that, sounds an amazing design. I'm currently trying to get into the micropaleo world so the biostrat idea in layered rock is epic.
Will it be geologically correct time ways and layers etc?
