I like the look of the zesty and wondered how they came up re: size. I’m 6′ 3″ but ride a large santa cruz so am thinking of going for a 50cm la pierre. Anyone give me some advice?

Test ride i would say – you are border line 54cm.

I am a similar size and I’ve got a large, the XL is massive.

Defiantly worth trying though, you may prefer the extra size.

I’m 6′ and ride a 46cm x-control. Its spot on for me, but given the choice I prefer frames on the small size. If I was your hieght it would be a 50cm for sure. But deff at least have a sit on both. a proper ride would be better.

I’m 6ft 1in and ride an XL. The L felt too short, but I have arms like a baboon and legs up to my armpits so maybe my oddball shape had an effect. Go try one for size. Fab bike, BTW.

514 is nice and light (enough) I’d say. Not tried the full carbon ones but they must be really feathery.

Lower models bit heavy. I’ve got a 214 and wish I’d got a better frame.

There isn’t a massive difference in the weight of the aluminum and carbon frames, the difference comes mostly from the components.

I went for a 314, as I wanted to spec it myself, I think the only bits remaining are the frame and rear shock. It worked out considerably cheaper doing it that way.

And the paint job on the 514 is awful this year!

I got a reduced 214 and did the same. XT and SLX mix, light wheels, carbon bars and seatpost.

Came out noticeably heavier than the 514 I demoed.

The point I was trying to make is just that the alu frame seems quite a bit heavier than the alu/carbon one.

Perhaps the rear is particularly heavy because of the reverse taper design?

I’d probably go for a large. I sold a Large to a 6’3″ guy and he would not have wanted any bigger. However, you really need to try them out, as pointed out earlier.
