I’ve just re-used an 11-speed KMC link and there was no filing required.

Leave the locking tangs on and buy a set of link pliers. One of those tools you think is useless until you get one.

CRC do 11 speed Sram powerlock connectors at £5.49 for a pack of two. Should work with KMC chains too.
