Not the head of the reservoir in summer if you value your sanity. Midge-hell.

You will get eaten alive. One of the nastiest places I've ever slept in a tent.

So best stay somewhere else for the 100 in September then?

A few of us camped at the site in Kielder for a week over the (short-lived) summer... Only had 2 evenings of midges, the rest of the time it was clear. We still used deet, came back with plenty, mind... AND the pub's down only 2mins away...

I camped there for the Kielder Avalanche last year and I don't remember it being too midgy.

That was April though, so midges wouldn't be too bad. Was a bit bloody chilly on the night mind.

Midges are around at Kielder 100 time, but I dont remember it being too bad. And I usually get bitten to pieces. Plenty of DEET and trousers and not shorts!
