My daughter has a mtb with flat pedals, but recently got a cheap road bike for doing the Pedal for Scotland on later in the year. It came with some caged pedals without the cage. She is 10, so don’t really want full on clipped-in stuff as they would be outgown to fast. Flats or cages I suppose is the question on a road bike?

I got some small wellgo platform pledals for my sons road bike. I’m pretty sure it’s these http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wellgo-KC008-Aluminum-Extruted-Pedals-for-Road-Bike-MTB-BMX-DH-Platform-/272142640238

He’s always been happy with them and they seem well made and are pretty light.

    My lad is 9 btw.

Wellgo KC001 are my go-to for kids pedals. Light, small, grippy enough.

Lewis has been rocking saint pedals for a while with 5-10s. Having a decent shoe makes all the difference. Recently bought him
Some aest pedals which have a smaller platform.

KC001’s here as well, seem to work well, I like the fact they’re a bit grippier than the stock pedals but won’t eat him alive when he (inevitably) crashs and bangs his shin on them.
