Heading outo to Kansas City with work in Novemeber, seems to be some good riding there. Has anyone ridden there or got contacts locally that could advise or help out etc?

Try MTBR.com forum, they have location specific sections and loads of American users.

Unlike the UK muddy trails means closed trails. Lots of new trails in the last 5 years here in the Midwest, well worth a visit!
