    Obviously hugely subjective, but the Wire is generally regarded as perhaps the best TV show ever….. and I’d agree. I went to see David Simon speak at the Opera House a few years ago, his speech is worth a watch:

    Give GoT a go, I was very anti it as everyone was raving about how amazing it was. I saw an episode in a hotel in Finland by chance and thought it good enough to have a go. It is excellent IMO, strangely I didn’t like Breaking Bad, watched the first series and walked away.

    my recommendations would be
    The Bridge
    Narcos
    The Wire

    Better call Saul is the obvious answer.

    But as an in between, watch making a murderer

    I’ve always been impressed with the manga/anime series that are available on Netflix. Pick a series and give it a try.
    Buffy the vampire slayer is also a good watch if you missed it first time around.

    The Walking Dead has a similar cliffhanger-every-episode style and is quite a brain-free experience…in more ways than one, chortle chortle.

    I’m currently watching Penny Dreadful. It’s very dark but great.

    another vote for Penny Dreadful.

    also;

    Person of Interest
    Mr Robot
    Black Sails

    Not a fan of American Horror story. it’s morality is a bit out of whack
