Due to a dog who I am no longer friends with, I’ve lost two ball bearings from my Cane Creek headset. Is it possible to buy just two or will the whole thing need replacing?

you can get singles but if replacing those then you may as well replace the lot. What size do you need do you know?

I’m not 100% sure. Is there an idiots way of finding out?

    Forgot to mention, it’s a 1.5 headset.

Would this do the job? – http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=61&products_id=439

I *might* have some kicking around, I have a knackered 1.5 reducer Cane Creek headset. They might all have turned to mush though.

Is it a sealed system that you have lost the bearing out of? If so then the bearings should have some numbers in black text on the side.

Simply fashion new ball bearings from aluminium foil

they will be stock sizes more than likely – measure them or take them to your LBS / motor factors / halfords

    How would I measure them?

vernier caliper or micrometer… though if you take em to you LBS, they should be able to match them up (assuming you have a good LBS that stock spare BB’s)
