I’ve been away from MTB since 2013, the last thing I remember is 29er’s and Enduro being considered (by bike magazines and fan boys) to be almost as amazing as Miley Cyrus twerking.

So it’s 2015 and I have a 120mm coil sprung Hard tail, with 26″ wheels and a 1×9 gear set up and Shimano SLX brakes.

How’s 26″ fairing these days, can I get tyres, hubs, wheels?

What about nine speed too?

It’s all 650b now, which is slightly bigger than 26er but apparently makes the trails come alive.

But all my bikes are 26″

I quite fancy doing night riding, I’m not sure the trail coming alive would be such a good thing in that scenario…

You’re going to need to know the difference between gnarmac and gnarpoon.

Great 26ers are still great but they’re not cool and no one wants them there are bargains everywhere, bikes such as the YT Wicked Ltd with Bos suspension on the for sale forum…couple of years ago no one could get them they were in such high demand…the guy on here I looking for £1k or reasonable offers, if I didn’t already have a few great bikes I’d be all over the thing!!

Speare wheels, tyres etc…well, watch this space , some say they’ll alerted be made but with less choice, I’m hoping there’ll be plenty around for a while but if you want to be cool spend £4k on an equivilent bike I’m sure you’ll go a whole lot quicker!!

Just go to any large retailer website (Wiggle, CRC etc,.) and you will still find more 26 rims, tyres and wheels available than 27.5 or 29. Some brand new versions will not be available in 26 but how much are you really missing out by not have the latest version of a tyre…

In 10 years time the balance may go the over way but 10 years is a long time.

They have upgraded few levels up. Expect fireball punches, bicycle-kick combos and spinning takedowns. Some have the ability to reduce your live-level to 20%.

26 is an advantage in that you can get cheap second hand stuff, as everyone changes to keep up with fashion.

I had a big bag of 26 tyres that were surplus (due to overlapping usage, not because I upgraded) and I had to give them away for postage.

That trail we started building at St Ives was never finished. Turns out the Friends of St Ives aren’t that friendly!

I’d recommend just to riding and avoiding any thoughts about wheel size for another 2 years, some concensus may have developed by then.

Yeah, no problem. Choice between 4 or 5″ tyres, 70mm or 100mmm rims. 26″ has never looked healthier.

Rigid singlespeed is still where it’s at – except for the old and frail. 🙂
