I’ve spent the last few evenings giving music in iTunes a ‘star’ rating so I can create Smart Playlists using them. All is fine with that machine and the iPod that Syncs with that machine.

However, I have another machine, both of which have Library Sharing enabled. The ratings (meta data I assume) does not move over to the other machine. Do any of the STW hive have a solution to get the rating data to move over to the other machine?

The rating data is visible when accessing the ‘shared’ library.

How are you sharing the library from one machine to another?

Moving/copying the metadata with either instance of iTunes running is unlikely to work very well. In order for both machines to successfully share the metadata you’d have to quit iTunes on both machines, do your copy, then open iTunes again.

All seems a bit Heath Robinson, best to stick with using the Home Sharing feature and not worry about moving files around.
