My Netgear router has sent me 3 warnings today that its received a UDP packet looking at an IP address that is internal to my home network?

anybody familiar with this kind of thing?

Ignore it and turn off the alerts, they don’t mean anything. Any device with a public IP will get plenty of background noise, automated scans, botnet probes etc, it’s just part of the Internet and can safely be ignored.

nope, no Sony devices, I suppose if I didn’t have alerts turned on, I would never have noticed.

Some Sony CDs came with ‘copy protection’ rootkits for a while (till they got a kicking for it). Could be that but I think RJ is probably on the money. Lots of background noise on the internet, if it’s a one off I’d ignore it.

I wouldn’t worry about it – it just shows that the router has detected something and is doing something about it.
It’s when it doesn’t alert you that you need to worry!
