Wher can I get it? not for drinking, for cleaning. I'm about to service some rebas and the guide recommends using isopropyl alcohol. WHere can I get it, or is there an easier to find alternative?

Should be able to get it from your local chemist. AKA Isopropanol or 2-Propanol. If not you can get it from places like Farnell or RS in spray cans or bulk 1 or 5 litre bottles.

Ebay, apparently. Or DIY stores might have it.

It's a fast evapourating solvent. Often used for degreasing. Other alternatives might be Methanol or acetone. BUT be careful they behave differently chemically so where one works another may damage your bike.

Acetone is not friendly to a lot of plastics so beware.

I use brake cleaner and have no problems at all.

Meths

I use meths, it seems to work

Meths works just fine, I have access to Isopropanol in 25l containers at work. Mixed 50/50 with deionised water it's a good cleaner for flat panel tv screens, computer monitors, etc. We have 25l containers of the water for our forklift batteries as well, which is handy… 😉
