Bought my elderly folks a new smoke alarm a couple of years ago and the test button stopped working on it at the weekend ( i always test it when i go round as they forget). Anyway the instructions said 5 yr guarantee, but i didnt have the receipt. I rang Kidde this morning to see if i could send it back as the date code on the battery compartment said was made in 2008. Nice woman in the phone said oooh no we dont want that back if its stopped working, i'll get another one straight out to you 🙂

Normally i'd just buy another one as they are pretty cheap, but this was a dual sensor thing and had cost about £30.

My faith in big companies customer service is (temporarily!) restored and a thumbs up to Kidde 😀

I imagine your folks actually fixed the button so it stopped working because they were getting sick of the beep beep beep every time you went round.
