Actually it’s also the proposed title of a forthcoming ITV2 police procedural drama centred on a Japanese exchange officer, who due to a time travelling mishap, ends up being partnered with a mythical Sherwood Forest dwelling clergyman.

Well in this case the “tuck” also refers to a diving position, so quite likely that the “nip” is also deliberate given its other possible usage. I suspect someone at the sun is chuckling like a naughty schoolboy about it.

The use of “Tuck” to tie in with the diving context makes the “Nip” look more deliberate if anything. “Nippon Tuck” would have been safer, but might have flown over the head of Sun readers.

Believe it or not, Sun journo’s aren’t on the whole stupid. The phrase “Nip and tuck” is obviously chosen as it’s :-

1) A well known phrase (albeit in a cosmetic surgery context)
2) Contains the word tuck, which is a diving term
3) Also contains the word nip which is a derogatory term associated with people of Asian origin, lo and behold there’s a fella from said geographical locale in the pic.

So basically a clever play on words, well worth the journo’s £100K salary.
