Is it possible to use a rear v brake caliper on the front? Or is there a fundamental reason why it won't work. As far as I can tell the cable stop/lock nut will be on the other side but that's not a problem, it might even give me an improved cable routing compared to now!
Time has taken it's toll on my current commuting hack so I want to replace the brakes and have seen the £8 ones on CRC labelled as rear.
Otherwise anyone know of any <£20 v brake sets. I have deore levers and new cables.

It should be the opposite side to the front. My XTR V's are the same arms for either end. Just the noodle is different
As Kato says, it's just the noodle that is different - front has 135 degree one, and rear just 90 degree. Should be able to get away with the 90 degree on the front possibly.
Just remember to swap the pads around if they're cartridge type. You don't want the wheel rotoation pulling the pads out of the holders!
