    can someone suggest a simple app to download for the iPhone to replicate a cycle computer. showing distance,time, speed etc and maybe record the route.
    something similar to the old garmin 305 . thanks

    If you aren’t interested in Strava then the apps below I’ve used in the past at some point and they were very good. I still use viewranger but mainly for walks.

    Viewranger (the premium version is worth it as are the OS maps)

    IIRC the Topeak one is pretty good. I don’t think you need to own any of the Topeak bits either, but you’ll probably have a couple of blank fields.

    Prior to Strava, I used motion x. Handy if you wanted to download maps to the phone over WiFi before heading out too

    Wahoo! You don’t need their sensors, works fine standalone and does just what it sounds like you want

    I use Endomdo for recording
    Viewranger I use for gox route following and French maps fwiw. OS app for UK maps
