Hoping to gauge opinion on something insurance related.

Recently I have had to claim for a Canon camera which was damaged while away in China, the camera was four years old and cost £400 new, because of the age of the item Endsleigh insurance have knocked 30% off the item which after the excess nets me £98.

I wasn’t expecting to get £400 but on the grounds that the cheapest Canon on their official shop is £270 I was expecting a bit more than there offer.

I thought insurance companies ordinarily offer new for old so should I put up a bit of a fight over the wear and tear deduction and if so on what grounds?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts shared.

Your will only get new for old if thats what your policy covers. Read the schedule/paperwork – but I’d guess since they are taking 30% off they don’t think it is. Insurance is always crap value for money when you read the detail afterwards and discover why it was cheap.
