I think I've ridden up that "riding a fully rigid Rohloff 29er with bar ends and risers and 45psi in the 2.0" tyres."
Excellent vid, makes you think that the marketing men have got it all wrong, no? 6" Full sus for LLandegla anyone?

Fantastic riding, looks like an awesome trail (on my DH bike)!

That's what Swinley looks like in my head

That is what I look like riding my hardtail.....although for some reason I vibrate a lot more and bounce from rock to root to rut and back again randomly.

Looks sped up to me.

I saw a dab at two minutes.....that's clearly a FAIL

@littlegirlbunny - lol

great looking fun and very smooth riding

Boy can ride. Obviously skinny jeans and studded belt is where I'm going wrong.

That video must be a bike marketing man's nightmare - proof that you don't need full suspension. Great riding. Anyone IDed his bike?
Posted 1 year ago # -
his bike's a Chromag
you could probably do a couple of runs top to bottom on a hardtail at Whistler before you needed to take a break at the GLC bar whilst someone replaces your aching limbs
respect to him for going down Goats Gulley though, I struggled with 7" of suspensionPosted 1 year ago # -
Nothing wrong with riding HT-DH for me. Slaps about a bit but you just man up and ride the wave. Good vid like.

That video has been posted before and it nearly descended into a riot. People arguing that it was speeded up or faked, mass argument about how it'd be so much quicker on a full sus and the usual bollocks about how everyone on here with a full sus and a modicum of skill could outride him. Watch the video carefully, his forks are set pretty solid too!
The guy is a Japanese freerider/DHer - I guess he's the same sort of level over there as Danny MacAskill is over here. Not known by the average person on the street, doesn't really compete but most bikers have heard of him.
Top video, the guy is SO smooth.

Yeah i can see why, I don't think it's speeded up though. You can see on more rocky parts the HT stutters over the rocks and knocks a bit of speed out but smooth otherwise. Just makes me want to go out and ride.

I enjoyed it, but I think he might need some wider bars

Very good indeed. I've had the pleasure of some young oik sat behind me on a hardtail whilst I'm bedecked in Dh gear on a Team Norco, and thinking I'm flat out. Full helping of humble pie I can tell you and a lot of respect to those that ride that well.
Actually it's an interesting topic to discuss the need for full sus or not. I love my heckler, but over here in Aus it's completely wasted - a $700 mid range specialised with some nice forks (and rim brakes
)on it does everything around here.

Ha, I tried something similar on the scottish DH scene for a couple of years.

One herniated disc and two broken frames later (not to mention the succession of last place finishes) I stopped trying...

Rubbish, is not a proper mtb vid without dodgy pop music that they always put on.
Posted 1 year ago # -
oh no didn't have my comp plugged into the stereo
Posted 1 year ago # -
Whats wrong with the sound of the bike going down the trail.

Whats wrong with the sound of the bike going down the trail.
Is that rhetorical?

Nice!!! That's more impressive than watching a knight dh.

Regardless of the bike - it's a great video. Loads of flow and looks 'human'.
Great sections - I must get to Whistler one day.Posted 1 year ago # -
NIce video. Big respect to the rider, hes clearly quite handy on it. Interested to know what forks too, look like pikes?!
I ride DH with a mate of mine who rides a hardtail. NS Surge with rock shox domains. Wouldn't mind, but he's normally a fair bit quicker than me.

id love to be able to ride like that.

@PeteG55
He says in the comments that the forks are Lyrik Solo Air lowered to 140mm .Posted 1 year ago # -

there's no trails like that in Wigan :O(

lol, a great video which shows what real skill can achieve and all singletrack wants to know is what forks he's using...

pfffft!
Kevin Dangerous was doing all that and more on a FULLY RIGID bike 15 years ago...
Now he was nuts! Brilliant to watch!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Zedsdead - don't think you should take anything away from this guy though. You got any video's of Kevin Dangerous?
Posted 1 year ago # -
That's the sort of riding I do.......then I wake up!
