What will happen if I run normal 26″ wheels in a cheap inbred 29er?

1.Your bb will be too low and you will hit your pedals all the time
2.Your won’t get any of the benefits of big wheels

    A pointless exercise 😀

You’ll end up with a very low bottom bracket height and an odd looking bike.

If you’re doing this cos you’ve got the 26″ bits and can’t yet afford the 29er equivalents (wheels, forks), which is the only reason I can think of to do this, then it might be doable to use the wheels- if you pick tyres carefully you might only lose an inch off the bb. I think using a 26″ suspension fork might be a step too far though- at the least you should get a rigid fork with an a-c suitable for the frame, so the geometry doesn’t get too f*cked up.

If you just think it’s a cheap frame and you’re long term intention is to run it with 26″ stuff, don’t.

    bugger!

I’m looking for a singlespeed slotted frame. On-one seem to only have (cheap) 29ers and I can’t find a Genesis frame online (20″ is too big…). I want to dip into my parts bin, no 29″ stuff there…

they have wheels for £99 to be fair, although it does double the price
