What would be the main difference between the 2?

I've got one of each but 26". The Scandal is a much faster machine, stomp on the pedals and it really flies. Climbs a lot better than the steel version, no doubt all down to increased stiffness and less weight. The steel version feels a lot more stable and its far comfier for the long haul stuff. Basically if you want all day comfort go for the steel, if you want balls out speed go for the scandal. If I could only have one personally I'd go with the steel version.
