    am I asking for trouble?

Wondering about putting some newer forks on an older frame (er, 10 yo heckler) which was designed around a 100mm fork, so if I put something that will go up to 115mm or 120/130mm just to use on the downhill bits will I be visiting the dentist soon – by the way, it's mostly used for xc, I don't jump or anything like that … I'm too scared 😳 … or should I just get some nice newer 100mm forks and shut up?

    🙂

I had some Rev Uturn 85-130mm forks on my 2001 Trek 8000 which was designed for an 80mm fork and never had any problems running it at up to the 130mm setting – usually kept it at 85-100mm though.
And i'm 16st so if you are well under that i wouldn't worry too much.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, I'm a bit less than 16st but it's only maybe an inch more travel, if I was going to 140 – 160mm I think it would be a different story?
