  • Ideas for dog-friendly festivals this summer?
  • IHN
    Full Member

Time has come to find a weekend festival (or two) to go to this summer. We tend to like the smaller more random ones, not that fussed about the acts themeselves but a couple that we’ve actually heard of is a bonus. Thing is, we need one where we can take the mutt, which limits the options somewhat.

So, STW being the bastion of border terrier and T5 campervan owning outdoorsy types, any ideas?

Latitude? I know that a campervan is pretty much de rigeur for that one, btu not sure how dogs would fre there.

Failing that, i think that Runstock (running festival weekend thing) is dog friendly.

Latitude is the wrong side of the country really, we’re in Gloucestershire.

I’m tempted to set up a festival called Woofstock, there’s obviously a gap in the market here.

Or is that because taking a dog to a festival is a terrible idea? Or is that just my dog?

That’s just your dog. Well, ours is quite happy on his lead, sitting in the sun, watching all the people. And snuffling for dropped chips (to be honest, I think that’s the highlight for him)

Here’s a link. Personally I’d go to Cropredy, because I do.

    Top 10 Dog-Friendly Festivals

Edit: last year’s dates in that link.

Cropredy looks great, but it’s a weekend we can’t do (as is Lakefest on the same weekend, which we went to last year but can’t this year, which kicked off this whole search).

Eroica Britannia has it all, bikes, booze and this year Martin Fry’s ABC and dogs are almost de rigueur. Also lots of gin is consumed.

    What about Nudefest?

I’d imagine there’d be some fascinating sniffing opportunities for the outgoing dog. And there’s a nude trip to the Haynes Motor Museum if you’ve ever fancied teabagging some classic motors.

Standon Calling is a festival you should absolutely avoid at all costs! Calls itself dog-friendly, but it isn’t! http://www.izzydabbles.co.uk/standon-calling-not-dog-friendly/

That’s hilarious! How could a festival that is dog friendly possibly sell chicken on the bone! For the love of God, think of the puppies etc
