do you steam it/boil it or just stir fry it raw?

I probably got it all wrong. I just grated cauliflower (about a third of a whole one) into a pan, then chopped some onions and added. 3 bird eye chillis, garlic, seasoning and a bit of fry light.

Fried it all for about 5 mins, then mixed in a can of chopped toms and some quorn pieces.

The cauli-rice is just like proper rice! Thanks Dave…

(Edit: Raw – to answer the question you actually asked)

Tried it tonight as the in laws were down and had cooked a curry whilst I was at footy. I almost preferred it to rice! … almost… 🙂

May I risk a flaming to ask why one would like to grate cauliflower into rice?

Surely rice is good at being rice?

No you don’t put it in rice, you use it instead of rice.

    Low carb cauli

Pain being that caulis are heading out of season and getting expensive now. 89p for two in dec, that for onw ‘value’ now.

    Ino icarbs iallowed,

Go back to the beginning and start reading all over again… No carbs, my arse!!! And before anyone says, I consider it all to be normal food. What’s not normal about it?

Not so difficult to spot the clever ones then,
    Yes, Don is correct.
Its isn’t a no carb suggestion.
Its more like a low GI suggestion

    NOOOooooooo

Don’t get your oil smoking folks, your likely to destroy nearly anything good in it, if you do.

Low temp oil frying is best, takes, OOoooo, seconds, whole seconds longer.
    Time well spent.

I’ve found icauliflower gives me massive stomach cramps every time I eat it and for 24 hours afterwards. I love it too, which is a shame!

Is it definitely the cauliflower and not something else which you add? Cauliflower is a fairly benign food I would have thought.

Chickpeas on the other hand are thoroughly evil and cause problems for anyone unfortunate enough to be within ‘striking distance’ a few hours later 😈

Id guess if you didnt cook the cauliflower enough, and so were eating it a bit raw, it might have the effect of giving you cramps perhaps?

Actually, according to the two camp hairy bikers, cauli is one of the only veg that we never have to import and can be grown year round in the uk.

I’m reading this while eating pasta and oat cakes, I reckon I could be pushing close to 61kg by the time I finish it.

Quite like the idea of the cauliflower rice though.

Cauli cooked for a good couple of minutes. Only added items are pre-cooked spring onion, celery, butter nut squash, an egg and some chicken. All of these things are fine normally, the only thing i do’t generally eat is bowlfuls of cauli, so I’m guessing it’s that. Would have thought it would be cooked after 2-3 minutes though.

Aout to cook a large pot of chilli and am going to try the cauli rice with it tonight.

I shall ‘report’ later on the outcome.
