I see Graphene has already found its’ way into tennis, squash and badminton rackets. How long before the first (stupendously priced) Graphene mountain bike I wonder???

Prob not long – graphene doesn’t really exist on its own as a macroscopic structural material, but it can if it is supported somehow in a polymer or on a surface. A carbon frame is a polymer composite, so it would be easy to imagine adding graphene along the same lines as the tennis racquet example. Whether it would enhance the structural properties of the bicycle, who knows? Would enhance the marketing of the bicycle, for a certainty, so it will happen.

Googling I see that Vittoria have already done this for wheels – you can get ‘graphene-enhanced’ carbon road wheels. So a frame is on the way for sure.
