In short, I’m in the Armed Forces and have just been told that I’ll be out of the country for 6 months from September. There is now a new excellent service at work that will record you reading a bedtime story, add sound effects and put it on a CD for your little ones. Unfortunately they can only do 1 or 2 stories and I’d like to record a whole lot more. Does any know of a programme (free if poss) that I can use to achieve this with a lap top and non-specialist level of computer knowledge?

    Many thanks.

record video of you reading on your phone and upload to youtube?

Mum then puts the laptop in Jrs bedroom for storytime.

    audacity.

You can record on to it yourself and save things as mp3. You just need to find your sound effects then.

Mobile phone is probably the easiest way to record you reading. Lots of apps or something built in. If you want to add sound effects Audacity is quite good on a pc, but is that needed?

You need to do all the sound effects and all the voices yourself. That’s the best bit.

According to the littlest panthercub, Robbie Coltrane was shite* at being the Gruffalo. 😀

    *I may be paraphrasing slightly.

Facetime not an option I’m afraid as I’m going to be smashing in 16 hour days and won’t be available at junior’s bedtime, I’ll give Audacity a go, thanks again.

Correct Panther, I tend to alter the content of the Beastquest stories so the baddy wins and the hero dies a painful and bloody death – I’m probably creating my own little psycho.
