She’s done so well this past year. She has a little sister who loves MTB too, so it will be used twice.

26″ bikes seem to start at 4’10” to 5′ mark (specialized Myka, Hardrock).

I’m going to get her a test ride, but

BTW, she has a lovely 20″ wheeled, rigid, spesh hotrock, pea-gree/fluro colour at the moment. Its fab. It scares me when she lets it goes down hill. She needs some front suspension. The extra weight will have to be ok.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Put 24″ wheels on a small frame?

Or buy a purpose built 24″.

My son has a Norco B-Line 24″ for heavy duty and a 24″ wheeled Dr Jekell (which can take either) for lighter stuff. Both air-forked.

14″ Trek Skye SL disc? These are pretty small (~1cm shorter that a 13″ Myka). Worth a test ride I’d have thought.

I’d probably go for a small jump bike? Though perhaps a bit heavy?

Im struggling to understand why a 12 year old would need hydraulic brakes?

Probably the same reasons why us grown ups use them 😉 …to slow the bike down.

I think the newer Spesh hotrock 24 has disk tabs? certainly does on the forks.

My daughter(s) has a XS commencal normal which measures 12″ frame. This has disk tabs and centrelock hubs. Not bothered upgrading the brakes to disk though as they weigh nothing and so v’s are more than adequate.
