Are howies outsider trousers any good? They’re a tad expensive, but if the water repellent epic cotton works then I might purchase a pair. Won’t be riding in them, but will be used for general outdoor use.

I’ve had a couple of pair of Howies Epic trousers/jeans, and they’re nice. But the Epic water repellent just doesn’t last. It’s impressive to start with though.

Worth looking at cactus gear from NZ. Their trousers are bomb proof. My friend is sponsored by them (EWS pro rider) and when he came to stay I had a good look. Getting some for trail building/outside work this year.

You pay a large premium for the Howies brand, certainly nothing special in terms of fabric.
