27.5 inch on my mtb, not too wide for general xc and jumps, but they feel wide enough for fast dh type stuff. And about 27 inch on my BMX, which maybe feel a bit too wide
Love the wide bars at speed, but anyone else found them a bit awkward in slow tight stuff? One hand way out in front & the other about to whack myself in the nuts
760 on the DH bike, 690 on the hardtail. Contrary to what someone on here was saying, it doesn't stop you getting round switchbacks, but you do find yourself using less of the trail.
ooOOoo- what width are you using? I'm thinking of 740 but not sure whether this is excessive? Could go for 710's but as I curently have 685's I'm feeling 710's might not be a noticable increase?
I cut both my Warhead 760's down a smidge to 740's and think they are spot on for me now.
My advice to anybody would be go as wide as possible straight off and then trim the bars bit by bit until you find your ideal width.
Far better than going too narrow and then having to buy new bars to get the extra width.
ditto. though I cut my war heads down to 710 and feel thats just right
Burgtech Ride Wides cut down to first mark (710?) so i could fit through the back door
Just ordered sunline V1's 737 mm with 19 mm rise. I'll see how I get on with them and can always cut down if necessary.
I bought cheap set of 711mm wide risers (Sunline V2's) to see how I got on. Very happy so swapped to a pair of carbon ones to lose a bit of weight.
But I think it depends on how wide your shoulders are, for me I found narrower bars made me feel like I was pulling my arms 'in-board'.
550 on one, including the width of the bar end clamps, 520 on the other, which doesn't have them. Lot narrower than most people on here, but it seems plenty wide enough to me [5'11, arm span about the same]. Get through those width restricters nicely and I don't notice any lack of control. Easier through the trees as well. The second bike came with a full width pair, about three miles into the first ride I slid the grips and levers in and cut the surplus off as soon as I got back.
My bars are about from here to their long.
Mine were 745:

They felt great, but I was a little close to trees on local, tight & twisty singletrack so I cut them down to a more manageable 725 yesterday.
400. Though I have 420 on the tandem and the crosser.
400 aracer?, wow you've taken things quite far!
Is this 400 on a drop bar?-if so I take it you're on the short side
Is this 400 on a flat bar? if so I take it you wear your sisters jeans

26" on the hummer and bmx and 27" on the demo9
710 here, makes things so much more sure-footed than my previous 640s
Shameless I've got some cheap 710 sunlines for sale on the classifieds plug. Only selling as I prefer lower rise bars on my bikes but these would be a great way for someone to try some wider bars out and see what they reckon.
27" on the XCish bike
28" on the 5 inch full susser
30" on the DH bike.
Having said that I'm not wee. I think 14 year olds who weigh about as much as my right leg running 30" bars is just plain silly.
660mm carbon risers on an xc hardtail. Was running 685mm on previous 456.
Carbon low rise 710mm on my Ti456. Feel very planted with them but don't think I'd want anything wider from a twisty tree lined singletrack prespective. Once you are having to change your lines to accomodate your bars things have got a little silly.
The Niner Sir9 I'm sloooooowly building up with an Alfine hub (might be finished just in time to put it away for the summer!) is going to be a long distance bridlway basher so is going to be a little more head down, arse up. Thinking norrower flat bars with bar ends (well, those ergon gc2 things). got to do something to make them look visually different enough to justify owning both!
