To increase virtual memory on a laptop, the settings have to be modified. Go to the Control Panel and choose Performance and Maintenance. Under Performance, click on Settings. Under Virtual Memory, click on Change. Under Drive, select the paging file that needs to be changed. Under Paging File, click on Custom and set the desired size for virtual memory.
