Something called Babylon had installed itself on my pc. It takes over Google Chrome and my home page was Babylon. It wouldn’t let me uninstall until I used Spybot which got it off my desktop but whenever I search the internet it is still using Babylon. Anyone else had this? Thanks.

Not one I’m familiar with, but is it actually still infected or has it just changed your home page / default search bar? Ie, if you type http://www.google.co.uk into the address bar, does it work?

Try a full scan with http://www.malwarebytes.org – it might pick up on traces that spybot has missed.

To reset settings in Chrome (I don’t have it installed here so had to Google):

Click the spanner icon in the upper right corner of Chrome, go to Options” Change the Startup Page from “http://search.babylon.com” to “http://www.google.co.uk”.

Under that is tab that says “Default Search” which will be set to “babylon search”, change this to Google too.

Other search engines are available. (But many of them suck)

+1 with the caveat that it should be treated as an anti-virus package and so you must uninstall any existing AV before installation.

When I read the thread title, my first thought was that you were having issues with the local constabulary…..

    MSE and/or Avast FTW!

Oh, and to avoid more virus type stuff, stop surfing the one handed web! 😉
