I always budget 170g (6oz) per person for a roast dinner or casserole. But nobody minds leftover fillet in a sandwich so better to go a bit over.

8oz is a lot of fillet. It's usually smaller since it's high quality taste, I'd say 6oz.

I've ordered 8lb of Sirloin, an 8lb Gammon and a Free Range chicken.
Gorge galore!

I don't usually get any complaints

man up its meat!! Steak should only be served in 16oz portions!

not when fillet costs £16-20/lb!

...and it's not as tasty as sirloin or rump...

Get to a good local butchers and you will get some lovely cuts of Sirloin...
Fully agree with BigJohns statement about Fillet not been the tastiest cuts.

I prefer fillet to sirloin or rump... done well it's a truly remarkable thing.

The Big boys disagree, Molgrips, and something in our names indicates we know a thing or two about filling our faces.

My love of eating nice meat is only surpassed by riding my bike...
My Mrs and our butchers bill each week would both support that!

If you'd had that fillet I had a couple of months back at the hotel.. oh my word.. I even posted on here about it.

Fillet is more tender, but less flavoursome, and more expensive. Sirloin is tougher but more flavoursome, and cheaper. Rump even more so. I am happy with this.
