Say you get one point for each of the following:
    Do a 24hr race,
    Do a 24hr race solo,
Do a 24hr race with no support,
    Ride SingleSpeed,
    Ride Rigid,
Ride with those stupid looking bars.

My limit is 3. I will do a 24hr race, solo, on the singlespeed but wont add in any more levels of deviance than that. I would also do a 24hr race as part of a team riding a rigid singlespeed.

What about you – how many of those will you do at the same time?

I do all those. All 6 at the same time a couple of years ago, but now just all apart from SS/bars.

it's hardly deviance though is it. Unless you're a fan of MBR or something.

CX is the level of deviance I'll never let myself get to.

I think those points are barely the foothills of deviance given what some peeps on here ride/get up to.

It's the combinations I'm asking about here.

Lets face it Jimmy nae pals supersolo 24hr rigid ss with daft bars is the sign of true deviation.

    Dammit – forgot the 29er….

it's riding bikes, if I was analysing it to this extent and worrying that using a certain handlebar was "deviant" I'd have to give myself a serious talking to and reality check

1 I guess, I'll ride 24 hour races as part of a team.
I did used to ride rigid, but I'd prefer not to ever again.

MM last year, 24hr, solo, unsupported, Rohloff, beard.

MM this year, 24hr, solo, unsupported, Rohloff, 29er, beard.

Militant Graham, you forgot to mention the purple lycra!

The purple shorts and pink jersey were Bristol and Cheddar.
MM was pink shorts and yellow jersey. 8)
Those dayglo days are behind me now that I've got some proper Vegan Cyclists kit.
Come to think of it, does being vegan count as another +1 on the deviancy list ?

Hmm, I have a rigid Canondale S/S and a rigid geared Kona, both of which get ridden a fair bit.

I also own and ride a uni but not to the deviance level of that chap who falls over in the mountains all day and then camps out all night in a bin bag – can't remember his username – he had some pics up a few weeks ago…

epicyclo – this thread was inspired by you. It was good chatting on the way up that long grassy climb on saturday afternoon. Bike walking is a great sport.

Gee, lucky I wasn't riding the Penance Ultraniche or I'd have been labelled as a deviant niche mongerer.

    I went the other way…

Riding the SDW (100 miles, 12,600ft climbing) on what best fits the description of a DH bike (9 gears, 2.5" fatty tyres, 6" travel front & rear, 45lb weight, tiny frame) last saturday. Doing it on a fully rigid singlespeed with silly bars would have been a comparative walk in the park 😀
