How do you remove these Raceface Cinch Cranks ?

If you look on youtube it tells you to remove them with an allen key.

With these it does not work.

The second picture shows what happens when I try to remove them with an allen key. A bit comes off but the cranks don’t move:

8mm allen key… As long as the 10mm piece is still installed as its self extracting

Apologies… Answering based on turbines or similar

You need an old fashioned crank extractor plus an adapter fitting as the hole in the crank is bigger than the tool.
Personally, I swapped it out for a self extracting bolt. Much easier to remove on the trail if needed.

Just make sure you order the M15 version.

Clubby – neat idea there, have you removed your cranks very often with those fitted? I’d have concerns over the threads possibly strippping on removal

The Park Tools Crank Extractor will do both square taper and splined cranks. I didn’t realise the Aeffect were different from the previous RaceFace cranks I’d had until I’d put them on before realising I’d missed a spacer 😳 Took me ten times longer to find a bike shop with one than to actually remove the cranks!

Slimjim – no worries from me.. Threads are designed to be pulled against by a normal removal tool after all. Just make sure the outer cap is tight.
Had this design on various bikes going back 25 years without issue. The one I’ve fitted at the moment is nearly 20 years old and has been on 3-4 separate builds.

Old square taper crank extractor as otehrs have said above, you screw the threaded bit in by hand then use a spanner or allen key on the end. It pushes the inner bit against the axle and pulls the arm off as the tool is held in place by being threaded into the crank

Yep – same cranks (and green chainring) as mine, you need an extractor.

You can (if you’re less than sympathetic mechanicaly) remove te drive side crank with a big rubber mallet once the bolt is off. I don’t recommend it but it works.
