My Dell Latitude D600 has been treated to a new Dell battery recently. I fitted it, booted the laptop and it had 80% charge. I worked on it till it went down to 20-odd per cent charge. I’ve had it plugged into the mains for hours now and it hasn’t charged the battery.
My Lenovo charges its battery when you plug it into the mains no matter what, what’s the deal with the Dell?

Sounds like your charging circuit or powerpack was dead not the battery …..

How do I diagnose it?

D600 is a 5 or 6 year old system isn’t it ?

The long serving members at work have those and swear at them .

If it is I’d look at a new system as your chasing issues round the computer

The stupid thing says it’s an unknown AC adapter when it’s the original one.
