As above really I want to do a check on a potential supplier but not involve our in house finance guys.
Is there a way of getting any assurance?

    Thanks Uplink.
I have taken references and they are fine. I was thinking more from a financial perspective.

We use http://www.riskdisk.com/ for checking out companies but I think that's subscription based.
