  • how do 8/9/10 speed chainrings/chainsets differ..thickness and spacing?

    they all use 3/32 chains which have the same internal measurement as i understand it but just different outer widths to squeeze in the narrowing cassette spaces as the number goes up . please correct me if i’m wrong and tell me how they differ.
    if i’m correct then why are people fussy about which speed chainset they use?
