Any recommendations for somewhere to stay for a couple of weeks?

I stayed at the Marriot last week but someone else was paying.

What I will recommend though is the Thai Orchid, 336 Argyle Street. It’s close to Central Station. Food and service both excellent. I went 2 nights running once I’d found it.

    couple of weeks?

You’ll be wanting 2 hotels, especially if you plan on eating in them

2 hotels would certainly work, I’ll not be there at the weekend. Just had a quick google. CitizenM looks interesting, anybody stayed there?

I’ve stayed at the Citizen M – it sort of travelodge of the future, and I mean that in a good way. High spec, no frills modular sleep pods. Clever (maybe a bit smart arsed) and very comfy. Its my bolt hole when I plan to get too drunk to get back to ayrshire of an evening. Rooms are very nice – compact and super sumptuous….. but they are basically one big playpen – a super huge bed that you can sleep on lounge on in any direction and a telly on the wall, with a remote that controls everything in the room – aircon, blinds, lights – great big draw under the bed with a safe and nice wet room shower thing.

For a fortnight stay……. fine if you don’t mind spending all your time sprawled on the bed, but theres no chairs/table/desk and that might get a bit annoying for a longer duration if you are there on work rather than pleasure.

Its dutch origins are apparent when you switch the telly on – there is a god awful enormous quantity of porn on tap.

That said -really good value for the quality of the accomodation and you are nice and central

    Citizen M

I stayed there last week with my wife. It’s an award winning hyper modern take on a low-price hotel. The lobby and bar is a really nice place to hang out and dripping in Eames/Vitra type furniture, The decor is very individual and cool and the pricing is very reasonable (approx £80 per night). The rooms are quite small but brilliantly designed with a huge bed, integrated shower/toilet unit that doubles as a mood light (!), free movies on a widescreen tv, iPod dock and even a nice Eames chair. Everything is controlled via a phillips handset. The location is great for transport links and food.

It’s the best hotel we’ve stayed in anywhere. Highly recommended.
