I’ve never changed the bearings in my Hope XC hubs before. All went well with the hub shell bearings. But I failed to check that there was a circlip in the freehub body.

I’m having a job screwing the cassette lockring into the freehub body. I must have damaged the thread somehow. Is it possible to file the hardened steel of the freehub body to recover the lead thread. Would a LBS have a tap for it?

That was what I was worried about. Can you still get XC freehub bodies? the hubs must be five years old.

Cheers Uplink. I’ll go and have a try with a file just now. Nothing ventured……

Would have thought it unlikely to have damaged the thread, is it possible that the bearings aren’t fully seated and preventing the lockring from starting in the thread?

It’s toast. It looks like the replacement comes complete with bearings, spacer, pawls and springs.
