Wanting to change brakes and keep current rotors.

Any problems running Hopes floating rotors with Shimano XT brakes

    Cheers

Yeah the rivets will hit the caliper mount\tab, can easily be sorted with a file in five minutes (they’re only soft alloy), however if they’re still under warranty..

Hmm, buying new so will have to get shimano rotors and use them until they’re out of warranty

I’ve tried 203 Hope rotors with XT caliper – and yes, I too found that the rivets clipped the mounting tabs of the caliper. Sorted it with a file but never had 100% confidence that a sticky piston or similar wouldn’t one day cause an accute rivet/caliper interface issue!!!

Conversely, I’ve also used Hope calipers with XT discs. These worked but the braking surface was not deep enough to utilise the full depth of the Hope (Tech3 E4) pad.

So, perhaps boringly, I’d say XT calipers best with XT disc and Hope caliper with Hope disc.

I seem to be one of the only people who has got that combination to work! It was a faff though and if I was buying new rotors anyway I’d get Shimano ones.
